Some of the more common side effects from Zoloft are nausea, sexual side effects, dry mouth, sleepiness, diarrhea and insomnia. Don't let the side effects deter you from taking the Zoloft for social anxiety unless you feel they are severe. In this case, you should always discuss this with your doctor, as he may just need to adjust the dosage.
Your doctor may want you to participate in therapy or other treatment in addition to taking Zoloft for social anxiety as opposed to just taking the drug alone.
